What we collect, and why.
Wild Construct, Inc. makes Entropy, Lumen Glow and other tools for motion work. This page explains what personal information we collect when you use our website and products, what we do with it, who helps us process it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
No advertising. No analytics tracking. We don’t sell your information.
We collect what we need to sell you software, license it, deliver it, support it, and (only if you ask) tell you about new releases. Questions about any of it go to support@wildconstruct.com.
What we collect
What we hold depends on what you do with us.
- Product news If you sign up for updates, we keep your name, your email address, your company or studio if you give one, the language you signed up in, and which page you signed up from. We use it only to send product news and release notes. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Your account Your name, email address and password, and a record of when you sign in. Your password is held by our sign-in provider, Clerk, in a form nobody (including us) can read back. We use your account to show you your licenses, downloads and trials.
- Free trials The account that started the trial, when it started and ends, and the trial license issued. We also keep a simplified form of your email address so each person can start one trial, even from a slightly different address.
- Purchases Your name, email address, country, your company and a reference note such as a purchase order number if you add them, what you bought and for how much, and the license keys issued. You enter your payment details on Stripe’s checkout page. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us whether the payment succeeded and issues your receipt and invoice.
- Licenses and activation Each license is recorded with our licensing provider, Keygen, along with the email address it was issued to. When you activate a product on a computer, it registers that computer with Keygen (an identifier for the computer and basic details about it) so a license can be limited to the number of machines it covers.
- Support requests Your email address, the product and category, what you tell us, how it affects you, and any technical details you choose to add, such as your operating system or After Effects version. Your request becomes a ticket in our support tracker, and we email you a confirmation. We look at your IP address for a moment to stop the form being abused; we don’t store it.
- Beta testers If you were part of the Entropy beta, we also hold your beta license and the record of your beta invitation.
- Visiting the site Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, and keeps logs of them for security and to keep the site running.
Why we’re allowed to use it
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or somewhere with similar law, these are the legal bases we rely on:
- To provide what you asked for: your account, purchases, licenses, downloads and trials. This is necessary to perform our agreement with you.
- Because you agreed: product news. You can withdraw that at any time by unsubscribing.
- Legitimate interests: answering support requests, preventing fraud and abuse, keeping one trial per person, and keeping the site secure. We weigh these against your rights.
- Legal obligations: keeping order and invoice records for tax and accounting.
Cookies and similar technology
We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so there is nothing to opt out of and no cookie banner.
- Signing in. When you sign in, Clerk sets cookies that keep you signed in. The site doesn’t work without them.
- In your browser only. Your cart and your language choice are stored in your own browser. Your cart isn’t sent to us until you check out.
- Checkout. Payment happens on Stripe’s own website, which sets its own cookies to prevent fraud.
- Fonts. Most of our fonts are served from our own site. One typeface is delivered by Adobe Fonts, which means Adobe receives your IP address to send it.
- Tutorial videos. Videos load from YouTube only when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once playing, YouTube’s privacy policy applies.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. We don’t track you across other websites, so there is nothing for the signal to switch off, and the site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends it.
Apart from YouTube, once you press play on a tutorial video, we don’t allow other companies to collect information about your activity across other websites through our site.
Who processes it for us
We use these companies to run the business. They process personal information on our behalf and only for the purpose we use them for.
- Clerk: accounts and sign-in
- Stripe: payments, receipts and invoices
- Keygen: license keys and machine activations
- Loops: email (product news, license and trial emails, support confirmations)
- Linear: support tickets
- Netlify: website hosting and the site’s server functions
- Neon: the database of orders, licenses and trials
- Cloudflare: storage and delivery of product downloads
- Adobe Fonts and YouTube: as described under cookies above
If you join our Discord community, what you share there is governed by Discord’s own privacy policy.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing. We would disclose it only if the law requires us to, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.
Where it’s processed
Wild Construct, Inc. is based in Austin, Texas, and most of our providers process information in the United States. When information about people in the European Union or the United Kingdom is transferred there, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer for that purpose, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it.
- Licenses: for as long as the license exists. Our licenses are perpetual, so we keep the record that proves you own one.
- Orders and invoices: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Product news: until you unsubscribe.
- Trial records: for as long as we need them to keep one trial per person.
- Support requests and server logs: only as long as they’re useful for supporting you and keeping the site secure.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy of it. You can object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it. You can unsubscribe from product news at any time using the link in any email.
Email support@wildconstruct.com from the address we know you by, and we will respond within one month. There are two limits worth knowing about. We may need to keep order records that tax law requires even after you ask us to delete them. And deleting your account removes your access to license downloads in it, so download what you need first.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect and to have it deleted, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We don’t sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.
Children
Our products are professional tools, and our website isn’t meant for children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use established providers for the sensitive parts (Clerk for passwords, Stripe for payments) so that we never hold them ourselves. Access to the rest is limited to the people who need it to run the business. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes
When this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
