Lumen Glow

Bloom with an optical system behind it.

Most glow plugins blur your highlights and screen them back. Lumen models what light actually does inside a lens.

A glass perfume bottle on black marble, its edges blooming with warm light and chromatic dispersion, rendered with Lumen Glow.

Not a blur with a threshold on it.

Lumen is built as an optical system: how light scatters inside glass, how it disperses across wavelengths, and how it lands on film.

Eight scales of light, not one blur

Real lenses don’t scatter light in a neat Gaussian — they throw a tight core with a long, faint tail that reaches clear across the frame. Lumen builds its bloom from eight cascaded blurs at geometric scales, summed under a single Falloff curve. Drop Falloff and the energy spreads into wide atmospheric haze. Raise it and the bloom collapses to tight halation hugging your highlights. One dial, the entire vocabulary of lens bloom.

Dark glass bottles and a bowl of fruit, with soft bloom around the bottle rims and bright fruit.

Dispersion from real glass

Chromatic aberration built on actual optical dispersion curves — Crown, Flint, Fluorite, Dense Flint — sampling 700nm and 430nm against a 550nm reference. Radial, linear, or angular, around a decenterable optical axis — so it radiates from where the light actually is, not from frame center. Not an RGB channel offset pretending to be optics.

Glass prisms, a clear bulb, and a reflective sphere with spectral color separating along their edges.

Linear light, end to end

Every pass runs in linear 16-bit float. 32-bit super-whites survive to the composite intact, on an HDR-safe Screen blend that holds hue past unity — where the textbook formula inverts it.

Mushrooms on a mossy log, backlit by warm sunlight spreading through the forest.

Grain inside the light, not on top of it

Not an overlay — a silver-halide crystal model that grows inside the light and rides its falloff, so your blacks stay clean.

A person looking at a phone on a dark balcony, with glowing city lights behind them.

A glow that breathes

Cellular noise shapes the threshold itself, so the glow breathes and drifts instead of sitting still.

A narrow Tokyo alley at night, with luminous neon signs and warm light spilling into the street.

Anamorphic on demand

Stretch the bloom wide and compress it vertically for scope-lens flare.

A vintage glass vacuum tube on a wooden workbench, with stretched light flaring from its bright reflections.

Lumen Glow is a perpetual license. The build you paid for keeps working, and nothing stops mid-project because a subscription ended.
